Tracy Police Department now on Twitter

Tracy, Calif. – The Tracy Police Department is pleased to announce its use of Twitter, effective April 1, 2016. The integration of Twitter is a part of a department-wide effort to increase sharing of information, building a stronger connection to the community through social media networking and reaching more social media users.

The Tracy Police Department currently uses Facebook as the main platform for social media, with great success. The Tracy Police Department Facebook page has seen growth in audience from 547 likes to over 8,400 likes since 2013. Today, with the launching of the police department and the Tracy PD Chief Twitter, we will be able to connect with and reach even more members of our community.

The two Twitter accounts, one for the Chief of Police (@tracypdchief), and one for the police department (@tracypd) will be used to post relevant crime prevention information and help keep residents informed about activities in the city and our police department.

“We know that engaging and connecting with residents results in strong partnerships and safer communities, which is our goal!” said Chief Larry Esquivel. “We believe that connecting with you using more than one social media platform allows us to increase awareness and engagement.”
