Public Works Bio
Don Scholl joined the City of Tracy in 1999 as a Parks Supervisor and was later promoted to Parks, Sports Fields & Trees Superintendent. On January 5th 2016, he was officially appointed as the Public Works Director.
Prior to working for the City of Tracy, Scholl served as a Parks Supervisor with the City of Modesto where he oversaw the maintenance and operations of numerous parks including John Thurman Field and the Tuolumne River Regional Park. He was the lead manager on Modesto’s community-wide beautification program – ‘Color Modesto’ where he worked with staff and hundreds of volunteers to improve the overall community. Prior to that role, he served as Modesto’s Golf Program manager (including managing the recovery from damages to two courses devastated by the 1997 floods), and as a Golf Course Supervisor at Creekside Golf Course. Prior to entering full-time government service Scholl worked for Cagwin & Dorward Landscape at such sites as Chevron Business Park in San Ramon and Hacienda Business Park in Pleasanton.
Scholl holds a Bachelor’s degree in Ornamental Horticulture from California Polytechnic State University – San Luis Obispo and is one of fewer than 200 Certified Sports Fields Managers worldwide. He also recently completed four years of service on the Manteca Unified School District Board of Trustees – serving two years as its Board President.
