City of Tracy Opens Recruitment for Youth Advisory CommissionersPosted: Aug 20, 2015
Location: Tracy, Calif.
The City of Tracy is currently accepting applications for teens interested in serving on the Youth Advisory Commission (YAC). The Commission operates in an advisory capacity to the Recreation Division - Youth & Teen Services staff, the Parks and Community Services Commission, the City Council and other community groups on matters relating to youth in Tracy.
Members of YAC recommend and assist in the planning and implementation of youth programs and events, host forums on health, safety, recreation, and attend monthly and scheduled meetings. Standing commission meetings take place on the second Wednesday of every month at 6 p.m. at Tracy City Hall, Room 203.
Youth Advisory Commissioner, Serena Cho states, "My favorite YAC event is the ‘Make a Difference Day,’ where we promote random acts of kindness through ‘Paying it Forward.’ The outcome was a heartwarming reminder that kindness is perpetual and our enthusiasm is always thriving.”
Each Youth Commissioner shall serve a two (2) year term and may server no more than two (2) terms for a total of four (4) years. Teens that live in Tracy or attend high school within the Tracy Unified School District boundaries are welcome to apply.
Applications may be obtained at the Grand Theatre Center for the Arts Box Office, located at 715 Central Avenue in Downtown Tracy, or by visiting www.ThinkInsideTheTriangle.com, and clicking on the Elected Officials & Policy link.
The YAC application deadline is Wednesday, September 30, 2015.
