City of Tracy Announces Selection of New City Engineer

Tracy City Manager, Troy Brown, will announce the selection of Robert Armijo as Tracy’s new City Engineer during the June 16, 2015 Tracy City Council meeting. Armijo comes from the City of Sacramento where he currently serves as a Senior Engineer in the Utilities Department; he brings roughly 20 years of private and public civil engineering experience to the position.
“We are happy that Robert Armijo will be joining the City of Tracy as our new City Engineer,” stated Tracy City Manager Troy Brown. “Development in Tracy is on the rise, and Robert will play an important role in ensuring that key projects move forward in a positive and productive manner.”
As City Engineer, Mr. Armijo will be responsible for all engineering work of the City, including capital improvement projects, infrastructure master plans for new developments and design oversight of projects. He will also act as a consultant to the City Council and other City officials on engineering matters.
Mr. Armijo graduated from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana with degrees in Civil Engineering and Pre-Law; he is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of California. Over his career he has designed and managed the construction of large community projects, including the $20-million Sacramento Airport Water Storage Reservoirs and Pipeline Project.
At the City of Sacramento, Mr. Armijo led the entitlement program for the Utilities Department. In this position he worked actively to help developers meet their project goals while still maintaining the interests of the City of Sacramento.
Mr. Armijo states, “Tracy is a historic city that has been growing and improving its economic development. I plan to provide excellence in engineering, leadership, and customer service to Tracy’s Engineering Division. I’m looking forward to engaging with the community and Tracy’s great team of engineers.”
Mr. Armijo enjoys outdoor activities such as running, road cycling, and swimming. He volunteers his time at the Sacramento food pantry, and participates in initiatives to support greyhound adoption, as well as church activities.
Mr. Armijo and his wife of 15 years have two children. He will begin his duties as City Engineer on July 1, 2015.
