El Pescadero Basketball Court Ribbon CuttingPosted: Oct 7, 2014
Location: Tracy, Calif.
The City of Tracy will host a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Tuesday, October 7th at 4 p.m. to celebrate the unveiling of a new community basketball court at El Pescadero Park, 301 W. Grantline Road.
The concept of building a basketball court at El Pescadero Park originated from eighth-grade North School teacher, Jo Hensen, and four of her language arts students. The students proposed their idea to improve after school activities at the park before City Council in April 2013. The concept was supported and added as a City Capital Improvement Project for the Fiscal Year 2013-14 budget.
The project includes construction of a basketball court, a restroom facility, and installation of street lights within the park’s perimeter. The basketball court is available for public use; the remaining project amenities will be completed in December 2014.
“El Pescadero Park provides the only full-featured skateboard facility and dog park in Tracy, both of which continue to grow in popularity. These existing amenities, along with the new basketball court, make El Pescadero Park a popular destination,” stated Don Scholl, Parks Maintenance Superintendent.
