Tracy Responds to Landscape Maintenance Needs Throughout Community

Posted: Jun 2, 2014
Location: Tracy, Calif.

The City of Tracy is currently in the process of transitioning its contractor for Landscape Maintenance District services. The City has temporarily mobilized its Public Works staff to assist in maintaining various landscape medians, streetscapes, storm channels and mini parks in the community. The impact of the contract suspension has had a negative visible effect on the community. City staff is actively working to reduce these negative effects.

“It’s evident that many of our landscaped areas are in need of attention during this transition period. In response, I have called upon staff from various divisions in Public Works to assist with the upkeep of these landscapes,” stated Public Works Director, David Ferguson. “We are doing our best to keep the community beautiful and safe for residents.”

The Landscape Maintenance Districts are comprised of 41 individual assessment zones and approximately 200 acres, including 48 mini parks. Maintenance of these areas includes mowing, edging, pruning, weed control, and litter removal. The City will continue to provide limited landscape services during this time of transition, and anticipates having a new contractor in place by September.
