City of Tracy residents can receive real-time public safety and traffic alerts via text and email through the community information application, Nixle. Alert topics can range from crime information, missing person’s reports, emergency preparedness, road closures and community outreach events.
“The goal of Nixle is to keep the public informed of critical incidents as they unfold, as well as important events taking place in the community. Nixle’s text messaging capabilities allows us to reach residents quickly, which is so important during emergency situations,” stated Tracy Police Captain Mark Duxbury.
Nixle subscribers can choose the type of alert they wish to receive, such as emergencies, advisories or community information, and the method in which the alerts are received, via email or text message. Alerts can be sent to all registered users, or to users in a specific geographic area.
Residents can register to receive messages from the City of Tracy by sending a text message with their zip code to 888777. Online registration is available at www.nixle.com or via the City of Tracy’s website at www.thinkinsidethetriangle.com. There are no charges to register for Nixle, however, standard carrier message and data rates may apply for text message alerts.
