City Accounting Officer Receives a GFOA AwardPosted: Apr 18, 2012
April 18, 2012 – The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada awarded City of Tracy employee, Linda L. Biscocho, accounting Officer with a Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting Award for the comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR).
This award is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting. It represents a significant achievement for the city and the employee.
Linda L. Biscocho has worked as an Accounting Officer for the city since April of 1990. In her capacity she oversees the day to operations of eleven technical and clerical staff members who plan, prioritize and execute a full range of municipal accounting operations including utility billing, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, grants accounting, financial statement and preparation.
According to Zane Johnston, Finance Director, “The GFOA award is another validation of the highest level of professionalism, transparency, and accuracy in fiscal reporting. The Tracy community can rest assure that the financial representation of the City is accurate and can be relied upon.”
Linda L. Biscocho has received this prestigious GFOA honor for the past 21 years. She is proud to continue the exemplary accounting tradition established by her predecessors and the city. After 22 years of public service, Linda will retire in June 2012.
GFOA is a non-profit professional association serving nearly 17,400 government finance professionals throughout North America. The GFOA’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards Program is the only national awards program in governmental budgeting.
