Accepting Applications for the Youth Advisory CommissionPosted: Mar 30, 2012
March 30, 2012(TRACY, CA) ‐ The City of Tracy is accepting applications for the Youth Advisory Commission (YAC). Commissioners will serve in an advisory role to the City of Tracy, youth & teen services staff, the Parks and Community Services Commission, the City Council and other groups on matters relating to youth in Tracy.
Responsibilities of YAC are to recommend and assist in the planning and implementation of programs and events; hold forums on health, safety, recreation; and attend monthly scheduled meetings. YAC is a great way for teens to get involved, develop leadership skills, take an active role in government and make an impact in the community for teens.
Cadres Shelton, 2011/2012 YAC President states,"My experience with the Tracy Youth Advisory Commission has been one of inspiration. This commission has shown me the importance of giving back, and that the youth do have a voice in their community."
Interested youth, who have ideas on how Tracy can be a better community for teens, who have the time to invest, and would like to make a difference, are encouraged to apply. Aspiring youth commissioners must reside within the City of Tracy boundaries and/or attend a Tracy High School.
