Water Efficient Rebates and Incentives
Department of Water Resources (DWR) Statewide Turf Rebate Program:
REPLACE YOUR TURF GRASS AND RECEIVE A REBATE FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF WATER RESOURCES FOR UP TO $2,000!
The DWR has a rebate program for removing turf and replacing it with landscapes that require little water at California single-family residences to support the State's drought response. For more information on the program's history, go to the DWR turf site at www.water.ca.gov/turf/.
The $24 million program budget is expected to support the conversion of more than 10 million square feet of turf, or approximately 20 percent of the statewide goal of 50 million square feet of turf. Up to $2 per square foot of removed and replaced turf will be rebated per eligible household. The total rebated amount, including any rebates the homeowner already has received from another agency, can't exceed a total of $2 per square foot.
HOW TO GET YOUR TURF REBATE
NOTE: Please do not start your project before receiving your reservation approval by email. A reservation is confirmation that funding has been set aside for your project. If the project is completed in accordance with the program requirements, applicants will be eligible to claim the reserved funding.
The rebate process consists of two on-line application parts. Here is how the process works:
Submit the application (to the DWR not the City of Tracy) to determine if you qualify for a reservation.
Receive your reservation approval to begin the conversion project.
Start and complete your re-landscaping project per the program guidelines.
Complete the rebate application for review.
Receive your rebate approval notice.
Receive your rebate check!
The How to Apply page ( www.saveourwaterrebates.com/turf-replacement-rebates-hta.html ) will provide specific details on completing the two part application process.
The City of Tracy offers the following rebates, incentives and assistance to its water utility customers in good standing:
Single Family, Multi-Family, Commercial and Industrial properties built prior to 1994
Water Use Survey Program
This City-wide program is offered free-of-charge to water customers who pay their utility bills to the City of Tracy and their building was constructed prior to 1994. As part of this program, a Water Efficiency Representative will tour your property to identify leaks and offer water and money saving opportunities.
Participants may receive water-saving equipment and information, including low-flow showerheads, faucet aerators and other free items. The Representative will also evaluate your landscape and irrigation systems for water and money saving tips. Since this program emphasizes customer education, it is important that the tenant/occupant be present at the time of the survey.
For more information or to schedule a water survey, please call (209) 831-4333 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Ultra Low Flow Toilet (ULFT) Rebate Program
This City-wide program is offered free of charge to single- or multi- family (up to four units) residents, businesses, public agencies, and industries who pay their utility bills to the City of Tracy. If your building or residence was constructed prior to 1994 and your current toilet(s) is greater than 3 gallons per flush (gpf) then you qualify for this program.
Did you know that toilets account for 27 percent of your indoor water use? Toilets manufactured before 1992 can use between 3.5 to 7 gallons per flush. That's a lot of water! New low-volume flush toilets use only 1.6 gpf while other high efficiency toilets and urinals use 1.28 or less gpf. It gets the job done, but with less water.
Replace your old water-guzzling toilet with a new water efficient model and get up to $125 back. Covered rebate expenses include a 1.28 gpf or 1.6 gpf tank and bowl (must be high-efficiency or WaterSmart labeled), supply line, wax ring, caulking, seat, bolts, bolt cover, tax and professional installation. Metered customers get an extra benefit - by reducing water use you'll save money on your water bill.
The program runs from July 1st to June 30th of each year and is limited on a first come, first serve basis. Once the program funding is exhausted, your voucher request will be carried over to the following year. For more information read the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) or to request a voucher from the City, call (209) 831-4333 or download it here .
